About the Author

Alexander Shvarts recently completed his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Toronto. He was awarded the University of Toronto Open Fellowship from 1999-2002. Alexander is currently researching Russian Entrepreneurs, Russian Mafia and Russian Jews. He teaches courses on Crime and Deviance, Race and Ethnicity and Introduction to Sociology at the University of Toronto and Humber College. He has published articles on the Russian Mafia and Russian Jews.
