About the Author
Liesel Knaack is the Director of Vancouver Island University's teaching, learning, and technology centre in British Columbia, Canada. She has been teaching for 25 years. She was an Associate Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) working in the Faculty of Education as a teacher educator.
Liesel has taught school teachers, university professors and college instructors about teaching and learning methods, incorporating assessment and evaluation components, making learning accessible to all learners, as well as integrating technology into learning environments.
Her research interests are in curriculum and instructional design, engagement of students, development and evaluation of web-based learning tools, integrating technology tools and employing effective questioning techniques. Prior to her post-secondary teaching, she taught in the public school system and in outdoor education centres.
Liesel was awarded UOIT's Faculty Teaching Award in 2006. She has a PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, a Master of Education in Curriculum and a Bachelor of Education.
